HGSCEA Events

HGSCEA organizes special events for members such as exhibition tours, scholarly panels, book talks and more. We welcome suggestions and collaborative partners for these events. Please contact members of the board with ideas.

Please join us for a conversation about two recent Munch exhibitions: Lifeblood: Edvard Munch (MUNCH, Oslo) and Edvard Munch: Technically Speaking (Harvard Art Museums, Cambridge). The conversation will include Signe Endresen (MUNCH), Allison Morehead (Queen’s University), Peter Murphy (Menil Collection), and Lynette Roth and Elizabeth M. Rudy (Harvard Art Museums), and will be moderated by HGSCEA President Jay Clarke (Art Institute of Chicago).

The panel will take place on Tuesday, November 17 from 10-11 CST (8-9 PST, 11-13 EST), on Zoom.

Please RSVP here.

HGSCEA Hangout!

The HGSCEA Hangout is a place for members to share ideas, questions, or case studies they are currently exploring, but are not yet prepared to present/publish in completed form. This is not a work in progress showcase, but rather a questions in progress opportunity.

We would love to have you join in our inaugural event, which is set for Friday October 30 1-2pm CDT.

We’ve got a few people signed up to share something about their work. However! If you’d like to share something, please email me Sara Blaylock blaylock@d.umn.edu and let me know!

Essentially it would be about 10 minutes of you sharing something you are thinking about in your new research. It does not have to be case study specific; it could be a methodology or a theory or even a context you are working in (like a new archive).
